Board of Directors
Mr. Denny has served as Chairman of Navicure’s
Board of Directors since the company’s founding
in 2000. He also serves as Chairman of the Board
of Directors of Gilead Sciences, Inc., and is a
director of GATX Corporation. Additionally, Mr.
Denny is a member of the advisory boards for several
privately-held fund management companies.
Prior to his retirement in 1995, Mr. Denny served
as Vice-Chair and Chief Financial Officer of Sears,
Roebuck, and Company. Other executive positions
include: Executive Vice President and Chief Financial
and Planning Officer of G.D. Searle & Co.; Chairman
of Pearle Health Services, Inc., a Searle-affiliated
publicly-held company; and Treasurer, The Firestone
Tire and Rubber Co.. Prior directorships include:
Astra AB; ChoicePoint, Inc.; The Principal Financial
Group; The Allstate Corporation; General Binding
Corporation; and General Instruments Incorporated.
Mr. Denny began his career as Associate Counsel,
Dewey Ballantine Bushly Palmer and Wood, where he
practiced law in New York and Paris. |
Jim Denny is the Founder, President and CEO of Navicure,
Inc. He is responsible for Navicure’s corporate
development and strategy with an emphasis on revenue
growth, product development, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Denny has more than fifteen years of leadership
experience in the healthcare technology industry.
Before founding Navicure in 2000, he held a variety
of senior management positions with NDCHealth’s
Provider Healthcare Transaction Group. Most significantly,
Mr. Denny was responsible for a business unit that
supported 30,000 healthcare providers and processed
more than 70 million transactions annually. During
his six year tenure, he led this unit to profitability
for the first time in its operating history.
Prior to NDC, Mr. Denny was with PepsiCo’s
Pizza Hut division, where he oversaw operations
for the Southeast Atlanta market. He also held various
sales and marketing roles with National Reference
Laboratories and Bio-Analytical Technologies.
Mr. Denny graduated from St. Lawrence University
with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
He holds an M.B.A. degree from Emory University’s
Goizueta Business School with a concentration in
Finance and Marketing |
Mr. DeSchutter has served on Navicure’s Board
of Directors since 2002. He also serves on the following
boards of directors: ING Americas; Ecolab; London-based
Smith & Nephew plc; Varian, Inc. Mr. DeSchutter
is non-executive Chairman of the Board of Incyte
Co.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. DeSchutter served as
the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DuPont
Pharmaceuticals Company. Previously, Mr. DeSchutter
was a director and Chief Administrative Officer
of Pharmacia Corporation, which was created through
the merger of Monsanto Company and Pharmacia &
Upjohn in 2000. At Monsanto, Mr. DeSchutter was
a director, also serving as Vice Chairman and Chief
Administrative Officer. From 1995 to 1999, he served
as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of G.D.
Searle & Co., Monsanto's wholly owned pharmaceutical
subsidiary. Mr. DeSchutter’s prior management
experience at Searle included President and Chief
Operating Officer and President, International Operations.
Mr. DeSchutter is a recipient of the 1989 University
of Arizona Centennial Medallion, awarded to highly
distinguished alumni, as well as the university's
1999 Technology & Management Lifetime Achievement
Award. |
Mr. Greenberg has served on Navicure’s Board
of Directors since 2003. He is the Chairman of Western
Union Company, and the retired Chairman and CEO
of McDonald’s Corporation. He was named Chairman
of Western Union Company in September 2006. Mr.
Greenberg previously served McDonald’s Corporation
as its President and CEO, and Chairman and CEO of
McDonald’s USA, as well as Vice Chairman and
Chief Financial Officer.
Before joining McDonald’s, Mr. Greenberg was
a partner and Director of Tax Services for both
the Midwest Region and the Chicago office of Arthur
Young & Company, and served on the firm’s
Management Committee.
Mr. Greenberg currently serves on the boards of
The Allstate Corporation, Hasbro, Inc.; Manpower
Inc., and Western Union Company.
A graduate of DePaul University School of Commerce,
Mr. Greenberg also earned a juris doctor degree
from DePaul University School of Law. He is a certified
public accountant and a member of the American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants. |
Mr. Gruner co-founded JMI in 1992 and is based in
Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Gruner is currently a Director
of Aptela, Inc., Autotask Corporation, Catapult
Learning, Inc., Courion Corporation, Halogen Software,
Inc. and Navicure, Inc. Mr. Gruner is a former Director
of Appriss, Inc. His past JMI investment experience
includes Corliant, Inc., CyberTech Systems and Software,
Inc., Financial Alliance, Inc., Intellitactics,
Inc., Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Inc., META Group,
Inc., Optika Imaging Systems, Inc., PROS Holdings,
Inc., Transaction Systems Architects, Inc. and Transcentive,
Inc. Additionally, Mr. Gruner was a Director of
Hyperion Software Corporation for ten years.
Prior to co-founding the firm in 1992, Mr. Gruner
was a Principal in the Technology Group at Alex.
Brown. Prior to joining Alex. Brown, he worked in
marketing at Sigma Design, Inc. and in investment
banking in the Technology Group of Blyth Eastman
PaineWebber, Inc.
Mr. Gruner graduated from Yale University and the
Harvard Business School. |
Mr. Stearns has served on Navicure’s Board
of Directors since 2002. He has been Chairman of
Financial Investments Corporation, a private equity
investment firm, since February 2001.
Mr. Stearns’ past corporate governance and
management experience includes: Director, Maytag
Corporation and Click Commerce, Inc.; Director and
Interim Chairman and CEO, Footstar, Inc.; Director
and Interim Chairman and CEO, Wallace Computer Services,
Inc.; President and CEO, CC Industries, Inc.
Mr. Stearns is currently a director of several privately
held companies. He is also a director at both Evanston
Northwestern Healthcare, a not-for-profit healthcare
organization, and Presbyterian Homes, a not-for-profit
group of continuing care retirement communities
serving the Chicago Metropolitan area. Mr. Stearns
was Chairman of Highland Park Hospital prior to
its merger with ENH.
Mr. Stearns graduated with distinction from Harvard
Business School, and received his undergraduate
degree from Carleton College. |
Mr. Sywolski became a director on Navicure’s
board in 2009. He is a Venture Partner at JMI Equity,
based in Baltimore, Maryland. Mr. Sywolski is currently
a Director of Catapult Learning, Inc., and Kronos,
Inc. Mr. Sywolski’s past JMI investment experience
includes Blackbaud, Inc., Changepoint Corporation,
DoubleClick, Inc. and Transcentive, Inc. Prior to
Mr. Sywolski’s current role as Venture Partner
at JMI Equity, he served as Chief Executive of Blackbaud,
Inc. from 2000 to 2005 before retiring from the
company.
Before joining JMI Equity as a General Partner in
1998, Mr. Sywolski was Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of Cap Gemini America, President of CGA
Computer, Inc., Chief Executive Officer of Huthwaite,
Chief Executive Officer of several divisions of
Bradford National Corporation, Senior Vice President
of Wood Struthers & Winthrop and was employed
at Stanford Research Institute in the Research and
Client Services Division.
Mr. Sywolski graduated from Widener University and
earned an MBA from Long Island University. |
